ISBN 978-88-947975-0-3

Quaderno is a series dedicated to the practice of drawing, created in collaboration with Galleria Richter, Rome. The third volume collects Sam Bornstein’s ink drawings on paper and unpublished poems, produced for his solo exhibition Cosmic Joke (2024, Galleria Richter, Rome). In these works, the artist explores the tension between the real and the fantastic, intertwining myths and archetypes, and the sense of the bizarre and the sacred. The drawings reflect a diaristic and dreamlike dimension, where the lines become vehicles for inner narratives and imaginative projections, offering an intimate glimpse into the artist’s creative process.

FUTUROREMOTO

DOMINGO MILELLA

2024, 28 pp., 21 x 28 cm, 1500 copies

ISBN 978-88-940857-9-2

FUTUROREMOTO gathers ten unpublished photographs by Domingo Milella, the result of his decade-long creative research in the most important prehistoric painted caves for the history of the human species, exhibited on the occasion of the FUTUROREMOTO exhibition (2024, Fondazione Giancarlo Ligabue, Venice). The artist, by bringing a large analog view camera into the depths of the cave and of time, places photography itself – our contemporary being – before the history of the archaic and the remote. Milella’s photographs are not intended as archaeological documents, but rather as casts of light from the darkness, optical sculptures of places immersed in the hidden and the incomprehensible.

NOUVEAU VENU, QUI CHERCHES ROME EN ROME

Gilles Raynaldy

2023, Poster, 70 × 100 cm, 300 copies

Nouveau venu, qui cherches Rome en Rome is the first of a series of publications created in collaboration with pianobi, Rome. The poster/leaflet, co-edited with purpose éditions, presents a photographic work centered on the city of Rome initiated by Gilles Raynaldy in 2020 and still ongoing, through a first selection of contact sheets from the artist’s archive. Departing from Porta Maggiore and cycling through the Eastern part of town, the artist stopped and lingered in certain transit points with his camera obscura, opening a shutter to the long observation of the landscape. The capturing device imposes a series of limitations adopted by Raynaldy to gain time, that is, the necessary time for the City to make itself present.

EL ASUNTO MIGUEL

DIEGO MIGUEL MIRABELLA

2023, 48 pp., 22 × 32.5 cm, 400 copies

ISBN 978-88-940857-7-8

El asunto Miguel contains a series of sculptures by Diego Miguel Mirabella, born from the collaboration between the artist and Peruvian mate burilado artisans, a pre-Inca engraving technique on ornamental gourds widespread in different regions of Peru. Mirabella entrusted the artisans with sentences and personal suggestions so they could be blended with more traditional representations of Andean culture. The artworks tower over pedestals especially made by the artist with various materials and techniques: visual interpretations of a travel account through the South American country and its landscape. The publication includes a text by Christian Oxenius and a conversation between the artist and Saverio Verini.

GIULIO CATELLI, LUCA GRECHI

2021, 40 pp., 12.5 × 17.5 cm, 250 copies

ISBN 978-88-940857-4-7

Quaderno is a series dedicated to the practice of drawing, made in collaboration with Galleria Richter, Rome. The works on paper by Giulio Catelli and Luca Grechi, made between May and October 2021, convey on the one hand an idea of a painter’s private notebook, characterized by restless strokes and the raptus of intuition, and on the other completely autonomous pages and drawings that are fully representative of the author’s poetic traits. For the two artists drawing is not only tied to the thought of the new, linked to planning, but an effective instrument of inner probing, with the marks and gestures of their individual pictorial practices.

LUCA GRECHI

2021, 16 pp., 23.5 × 31.5 cm, 250 copies

ISBN 978-88-940857-3-0

Isola brings together three large paintings that have represented the key passages in Luca Grechi’s artistic research from 2019 to 2021. The publication, made on the occasion of the exhibition Mi frullla in testa un’isola (2021, Richter Fine Art, Rome) includes a text by Marco Deserto, Chi più di una stella sta…là, a futuristic surreal dialogue that blends art, science fiction and politics.
